Frequently Asked Questions
"EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is the best we've seen. It's far from perfect, partly because today's advanced disk technology makes data-recovery more difficult than it was with the simpler technology of the past, but it's fast and efficient. " вЂ"PCMag
"The first thing you'll notice about EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro is that its interface is very clear and uncluttered, with only a small collection of self-explanatory controls. You won't find lots of extra options hidden in a system of hidden menus, either; what you see really is what you get." вЂ"techradar

2. Why cannot I recover 2GB data for free?
It is recommended to check the version installed is Free or Trial because they are different versions.
Trial has data preview function but cannot save any files, while the Free version enables to recover 2 GB files. The default free space is 500 MB and you may share the product on social media to get another 1.5 GB.
3. Why cannot the recovered files be opened?
A file is saved as 2 parts on the storage device: directory info (which is comprised by file name, time stamp and size info, etc.) and data content.
If the files with original file names and folder structures cannot be opened, one possible reason is the corrupted directory info. There is still a chance to recover the data content with the RAW Recovery method in our software.
4. Why isn't it suggested to recover the files back to the original drive?
The storage structure of the lost files would be altered or damaged by any changes on the drive. If you save the recovered files back to the same drive, the original data structures and data content would be corrupted or overwritten, which causes permanent data loss. So you should prepare another disk to save the files.
5. How can I check whether my data is recoverable or not before purchase?
The Free version helps you save 2GB files, so verify the recovery quality of our product before purchase.
6. How long does it take to scan the drive?
It strongly depends on the capacity of your hard drive and the performance of your computer. As reference, most drive recoveries can be completed in around 10 to 12 hours for a 1-TB healthy hard drive in general conditions.

Ever since the launch of Windows 10, we have been coming up with different tips and tricks using which you can customize your Windows computing experience. The Start Menu, the themes, and a lot more was covered in the initial days of Windows release and as everything was fresh, things required a lot more manual work with registry and system settings.
Now, there are different tools available using which you can customize different elements of Windows 10. But how about one single tool that brings everything under a single umbrella? It would be great, which brings me to the Windows 10 app I will be talking about today, i.e. the CustomizerGod. As the name speaks, the app is like a God when it comes to customization of Windows 10 icons and using it you can change the settings of almost anything and everything.
Even for those who fear the word customization and think that they will eventually end up messing their Windows 10 installation, there's nothing to worry about. The tool is noob-friendly, but still I would advise you to create a system restore point before you begin.
Getting Started with CustomizerGod
To get started, head over to the CustomizerGod download page and download the ZIP file. Once that's done, extract it to a location and make sure you do it to a directory which you won't delete or clean up accidentally. Inside the Zip, there will be an executable file and it's mandatory to have admin rights on the computer to run this application.
Note: If you are getting a web based downloader to install CustomizerGod, please be advised that there are a lot of crapware that comes bundled with the app. So, please look properly and click on the decline button to have a clean installation.
There are so many options in CustomizerGod to check out and on the left sidebar you get the options which you can configure, and on the right sidebar you can select the customization you would like to apply. The app primarily focuses on the icon customization and takes care of Taskbar Start menu, File Explorer Ribbon, General icons and even the Battery and Wi-Fi icons.
How to Change Icons
There are a lot of sections present in the tool. But the most useful is the General Icon as it hosts majority of the icons you use in Windows Explorer. From here, you can change most of the icons that are there. So, let's say you wish to change the system drive icon. The first thing you'll need to do is look for the icon in the list and then click on it so that it gets selected. Double-click will open up a new detail window, so if that happens, just close it.
Next, you will have to click on the Change button and you will be asked to select the new icon files that you wish to use. One of the best places to download new icons would be IconArchive. You can download PNG, BMP and even JPEG file type and apply the icon. The explorer will restart and you will be able to see the new icon in action.
No fiddling with registry settings and digging deep into the Windows System32 files. CustomizerGod makes it a walk in the park. The different sections are only there to make it easy for you to find the icon type and change it. The process is same and it only depends on customization skills.
Advanced Settings
For advanced users, you can click on the hamburger icon in the bottom right section and get advanced options. There you can create the backup of the current system which should be the first thing you should do before applying any patch. If things don't go according to the plan, you can easily restore this backup and continue from where you left off.
After you apply most of the customization, you will have to restart your Windows explorer for the changes to take effect. The options to get that done is present right there in the app. You can also download custom icons for Windows 10 and apply them effortlessly using this app. The app also works with Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 but was recently updated to support the Windows 10 Pro.
Last Words: Remember to Take A Backup
That was how you can use CustomizerGod to customize your Windows 10 experience especially when it comes to looks and layout of different elements. The interface is very clean and you might look for an instruction manual to use the customizer tool, but everything is right there on the screen. If you have a system restore backup of your device, there's nothing you should be worried about, but still proceed with caution as you would be responsible if anything goes wrong.

Jazz up your boring old desktop
Are you feeling a little bored with your PC's display? When it comes to Windows, you actually have a lot of freedom with customization. You can change your background, themes, and even program icons.
Especially if you're trying to install a Windows theme, you may want to customize your desktop icons in order to fit a certain look. There are lots of icons available on the internet you can use for free, or to purchase.
Changing your Windows 10 icons is incredibly easy, and you can always change them again if you ever wish to. Here's how to customize icons in Windows 10.
Download Your Icons
The first thing you'll need to do is download icons to use. You can find them on websites like Icon-Icons. You can either download single icons, or find a set of icons if you want a consistent look. Make sure the icons are in the ICO format in order to use them on Windows 10.
Once you've found icons and downloaded them, you'll want to locate the file where they were saved. To do this, go into ile explorer. Files downloaded from browsers usually end up in the Downloads folder unless you set it to save somewhere else.
If you're having trouble finding it, you can go into your browser and locate your downloads location. There's usually an option to open a download's file location.
If you've downloaded a set of icons, you'll likely have to extract them from a zipped file. To do this, double-click the zipped file and select Extract All near the top right. Choose where to extract the files to, and make sure it's saved in a place that's easy for you to find, where you won't want to move it while in use.
Create Program Shortcuts
Your next task is to create shortcuts for the programs that you wish to change the icons of. You can't change the icon of an original application file, but you can do it with any shortcut. To do this, locate the original application file of the program. Then, right-click on it and choose Create Shortcut.
The shortcut will be placed in the same file folder as the original application file. You can then move the shortcut wherever you want it to be. This includes your desktop, if you want to create a unique environment. Once you have your shortcuts the way you want them, you can use your downloaded icons to customize them.
Change Your Icons
Right-click on a shortcut and select Properties.
At the bottom of all the options, you'll see the Change Icon button. Select this and a Change Icon window will open. To use your downloaded icons, click on Browse to open the file explorer.
Locate the file that your icons are in. Depending on the file you downloaded, you may need to look through some folders to find where the icon images were saved. Once you find this file or single icon, select it and click Open.
The icons in the file will appear in the Change Icon window. Select the one you wish to use for this application, then select OK.
Next, in the properties window, select Apply and then OK. Your shortcut icon should now be replaced by the icon you chose.
Tips For Customizing Icons In Windows 10
If you're having trouble getting your icons changed, there are a few things you'll want to make sure you're doing.
First of all, when you're looking for icons to download, make sure you're getting them from a reputable source. Some icons might not be the greatest quality, or the site itself might be trying to trick you into buying something. The files could also be infected with malware.
Besides the site listed above, you can also look on the site DeviantArt to directly find artists who are creating icons. You'll want to search specifically for "Windows 10 icons".
Also be sure you're downloading ICO formatted files. The download page of your icons should tell you or allow you to choose what format you're downloading. Also make sure you're saving them to a place that's easy to find. The best thing to do is download all your icons, then create a folder with them all inside before using them.
If you move your icon file, your computer will not be able to locate it to use on the shortcut and you'll have to redirect it to the new file location before it'll work again.
You also will still see the shortcut icon with the arrows at the bottom left corner of the application. If you want to get rid of these to have a cleaner look, this is possible to do through editing the registry.
If you ever want to change your icons back, you can always delete the shortcut and create a new one from the original application. Or you can use the same method above to switch out icons.

In Windows 10, there are a number of system icons in the notification area on the taskbar (system tray). These icons include Volume, Network, Power, Input Indicator and Action Center. Most of them are visible by default. You might want to customize which icons should be visible in the taskbar.
To hide or show some of them, you need to use the Settings app. It is a Metro app created to replace the Control Panel for both touch screens and classic Desktop users. It consists of several pages which bring new options to manage Windows 10 along with some older options inherited from the classic Control Panel. The required page is located under Personalization – Taskbar.
Before you proceed, please keep in mind that disabling a system icon removes the icon and turns off its notifications too.
To show or hide system icons from the tray in Windows 10, do the following.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Personalization – Taskbar.
- On the right, click on the link "Turn system icons on or off" under Notification area.
- On the next page, enable or disable the system icons you need to show or hide.
You can close the Settings app now.
Tip: In Windows 10, there still exists the ability to open the classic Notification Area Icons dialog instead of Settings. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog and type the following in the Run box:
Press the Enter key. The next window will be familiar to many users:
There, click the link "Turn system icons on or off" and you are done.

Don't try this because it breaks start menu!
How exactly it break the Start menu?
Note: It is not a hack or a third-party tweak. This is the official feature of Windows 10.
Never mind i got it fixed, it caused by 7+ Taskbar Tweaker
rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker
the dragging of icons with the left mouse button still works to hide or restore – just drag chosen icon up or down.
This works great. We can access the taskbar settings by right click on the taskbar and then Taskbar settings. However great info.
the shell. <05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9>thing doesn't seem to work here, win 10 pro x64 1803 (unactivated).
it can only show/hide all icons but doesn't let adjust settings individually for each icon, it crashes.
i need a software for this that works with most recent win10 versions.
cant use windows settings either because these options are greyed out without activation.
It's Really working, Thanx for your support.
But what is the meaning of this shell.
Is there a way to remove non-system icons from the taskbar, like you do with the system's ones?
you can only hide them to that tiny flyout behind the up arrow.
We all love what Microsoft has done with Windows 10. There is a trunk-load of features that we never had in Windows 7 and 8 but are readily available in Windows 10. The introduction of Microsoft Edge alone is something worth trying Windows 10 for. However, there are some features that are still there but just have been moved. Just like the system tray icon customization feature.
In previous Windows versions, you could click on the "Customize" button that would be available at the bottom of the system tray popup and customize the icons to either show on the taskbar or just hide them away. In Windows 10, you can still customize your system tray icons but there is a different procedure to do that. Trying to do that and can't figure out a way? Don't worry because we have got you covered. Perform the following steps:
Right click on the Taskbar and select "Properties" from the list.
Now click on "Customize" which is found in front of the section "Notification area".
Click on "Select which icons appear on the taskbar". To customize system icons, choose Turn system icons on or off
Here you can first choose whether or not you want all of your icons to appear in the notification area. If you do want that, set "Always show all icons in the notification area" to "On".
You can also choose to turn any application on or off from the list provided. You can also move items up or down in the system tray popup and can even turn the system icons on or off (from the customize screen that you can get to by hitting on the back arrow).
Yes, this is how you can customize your system tray icons and unfortunately, the flexibility with which we could play around with these in Windows 7 or 8 is absent but yes, the majority of the options are still there, just relocated.

Summary
Whether you want to customize icons in Windows 10 to improve the way they look or to make it easy to identify your favorite objects, Windows offers several methods to do so. With the above tips, you can customize the icons for your folders, files or hard disk drives in your Windows 10 PC.
Would you like to fully customize your Windows 7 icons without having to manually change out every icon? Here's how you can switch to an entire new set of icons in only a couple clicks.
Recently we showed you how you can Customize your Windows 7 taskbar icons for any app manually, but it required changing each of your apps' icons by hand. Although it's not too hard, it can take some time if you want to customize a number of apps. Thankfully, there's now a better way to change out all your icons.
7Conifier is a new free app for Windows 7 that can customize all of your taskbar and start menu icons in only a couple clicks. Download the zip file from the link below, then unzip the contents of the folder so you can get started customizing your taskbar.
Once it's unzipped, run the 7CONIFIER.exe program. Since this is the first time you're running the app, you'll be asked if you want to backup your existing icons in a Default package. This is a good idea so you can quickly restore your icons if you don't like the changes, so click Yes to continue.
Now, simply select one of the available icon packs, and click Apply to change your icons to the new set.
By default, the icons will be applied to the taskbar and start menu, and Explorer will automatically be restarted to apply the changes. You can change these settings if you wish, or just click Apply to change your icons.
After a few seconds, your taskbar will disappear then come back with your new icons. That's easy!
If you're running some less common programs, you may notice that their icons do not get changed. To fix this, go back to 7Conifier, select the icon package you want, and click the pencil icon to edit the icons.
Select the Icons tab, and here you can change the icon settings for all the default programs included with the set. You can also add your own application settings, or automatically import all pinned applications so you can easily customize their icons. If you have another set of icons you wish to use, you can swap to it here as well. Once you're finished, click Save, then apply the icon theme again to get your other icons customized.
7Conifier definitely makes it much easier to customize the icons for all your favorite programs. It worked very good in our tests, and the icon sets included look sharp as well. If you'd like to customize your desktop even more, here's how you can Change your Windows 7 Start orb and Organize your programs into groups on your Windows 7 taskbar.
Windows 10 uses the standard yellow folder icon for all folders that you create. Your libraries have slightly different icons but for all other folders, the same icon is used. If you want, you can change folder icon colors with an app called FolderPainter. If changing the folder icon color doesn't do the trick, you can set a custom folder icon on Windows 10 so long as you find the icon for it yourself.
Custom folder icon
The first thing you need to do is find a folder icon. You can normally download icons for free online however, if you have a nice PNG image that works as an icon, you can convert it to an ICO file too. If you're converting a file from PNG to ICO, we recommend using a free online web service called ICO Convert. Just upload the PNG image, and convert it to an ICO file for Windows 10.
Once you have the ICO file, you can change the folder icon for any folder that you want. Navigate to the folder that you want to change the icon for and right-click it. From the context menu, select Properties. On the Properties window, go to the Customize tab and click the Change icon button at the bottom. In the window that opens, click the Browse button and select the ICO file that you want to use. Click Ok, and Apply.
Return to your desktop, right-click on an empty area and select Refresh from the context menu. Repeat for any File Explorer windows that you have open. The folder will now appear with its new, custom icon.
Changing it back is pretty easy. Access the Change Icon window the same way you did before and select the default folder icon from the ones shown in the list, or just click the Restore Defaults button.
This change will be applied on a per-folder basis. This means that all other folders on your system will still use the default icon that's set on Windows 10. There are apps that can change the default folder icon for multiple folders at once and there are also apps that can change what the default icon for all folders is however, given this is Windows 10, you should avoid tampering with the icon defaults. Windows 10 has a poor history of handling UI customizations. In fact, if you use an app to customize your Windows 10 desktop, it's a good idea to disable or uninstall it before you install a major Windows 10 feature update.
